In 2003, Kevin's passion for social advocacy led him to Southern California when he accepted the position of Assistant Conductor of Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles. His time with the 200-voice ensemble included a South American tour and the co-creation of collaborative programs with Broadway luminaries Susan Egan, Lily Tomlin, Billy Porter, Jerry Herman, and John Kander, who gave a ringing endorsement of They Had It Coming: The Music of Kander & Ebb, for which Kevin arranged the score. While in LA, he also enjoyed collaborations with Jason Graae and Yeardley Smith, and was a pianist for two stage productions written and directed by Del Shores: Sordid Lives (with members of the movie cast), and Blues for Willadean with Beth Grant and Octavia Spencer.
Kevin left California in 2007 to become the first full-time artistic director of the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus, a position he held for 10 years. As AD, he led the state of Georgia's largest self-sustaining chorus in over 100 concert, holiday, and theatrical performances. During his tenure he brought the chorus to international acclaim in the Q+ movement by advancing the genre of choral theatre, notably the creation and commissioning of original concert works, including Andrew Lippa's oratorio I Am Harvey Milk, for which he conducted the East Coast premiere. In 2013, he partnered with the AGMC staff and board to establish the Atlanta Women’s Chorus and the umbrella arts organization Voices of Note, which has been celebrating choral music across the spectrum of gender identity for over a decade.
In 2017, Kevin stepped down from Voices of Note to return to composing, teaching and theatre music direction. In 2025, he was named Conductor Emeritus of the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus.
