Premiered by Voices of Note in 2016, Libertad is Robison's first major choral/orchestral work. Culling and editing the political poetry of Walt Whitman, Robison draws from several poems in the Calamus series to weave together a timely and wholly original work that speaks to modern times. In four movements (Equanimity, Institutions, Rebirth, Journey), Robison's writing is decidedly American in flavor with nods to American choral, orchestral and film scores of the 20th century. The choral writing is challenging, yet melodic for each of the four parts, and accessible for professional instrumentalists. Scoring for 2 pianos is included in the chorus part.
